How are you? Hope you are well! Today I would like to share with you my tips on looking after YOU while you are a SAHM!
We can get so overwhelmed with work and looking after the kiddos that we find ourselves depleted of motivation and at times feel unappreciated. 🌸
Well, I am here to show you, just how to look after yourself, because how can we look after little ones when we not looking after and taking priority over our well being. It may be small things you do during the day but trust me, it will give you so much motivation to carry on!👊💯
👗 Dress Up | Make Up!💄
As easy as that ladies, dress up, get out of those sweats, get out of those yoga pants and dress up. Even though you don’t have any errands, you just have school runs or you only have chores for the day. Get up early, go and see to yourself with a small session of alone time, giving yourself that attention. Put on clothes that you feel comfortable and beautiful in. And if you don’t,, get rid of your clothes that you don’t like and start getting yourself things that make you feel comfortable in. Also, put on some makeup, even if it is just eyeliner, some gloss and mascara. There is just something of brushing your hair, puting lotion that reasures you that you are taking care of yourself.
You will feel motivated to start your day and you will be in a better mood for the young ones that is struggling to get out of bed, coz lets face it, whether they sleep at 12 or at 7, they are just not going to cooperate with us in the morning.😂
🛏 Make your bed! 👀
How is making my bed going to motivate me? Well, this is a huge motivation for me. Once the bed is made, I don’t have that urge to climb back in it again lolz. It also sets things in motion. It can be encouraging, it also neatens up the place. You will see the difference when the bed is made, it is as if half the battle is won. 😬
💧 Drink your water 💧
Being hydrated makes a difference, think that H2O. It has so much benefits. It helps with flushing toxins out of your system. Not to mention it is the main ingredient for weightloss. Most of all it helps you to be alert and we all need that especially with tiny humans running about that seems to have an endless supply of energy. 😰
📝 Routines | Scedules | Lists 📝
We know with kids, life is most of the time unpredictable. This tip might seem unrealistic to some yet it is most affective for any busy corporate arena. Why not use that same strategies in our homes as SAHM’s and especially for moms who work from home! I swear by this tip, once you know what more or less to expect from your day, you won’t ever be taken by surprise when something unexpected happens.
As stay at home moms, alot assume we sit and do nothing. That we lounge around and catch up on the lastest gossip or the lastest episode of the bachelor. When it is simply not so. As a mom who came from working a full time job to being at home, I can say that it is much more work staying at home and seeing to the kids. Here are just a few examples of what we do:
- Wake and see that the morning runs smoothly for everyone, that is see to breakfast, see to the lunchs, see that the kids are dressed and not wearing their underwear over their trousers
- Do the school run
- Come home and tidy the mess everyone made
- See to washing and chores for the day
- Do school run
- Get lunch served
- Get the kids to extra activities
- See to lunch dishes
- Cook supper
- Get kids from extra activities
- Get them bathed
- Tidy up after supper
- Put kids to bed
- Tidy up the tornado that everyone caused
- Go to bed
- Repeat the next day
That is just a few things, not to mention school meetings, religious commitments, social commitments, having alone time with hubby, listening to all the days events from the kids, running your home business for most SAHM’s!
This is when a planner comes in handy, it is like your PA, your personal assistant. It makes life less chaotic!
📴Switch off | Wind down📴
For your sanity lol, you hafto wind down. Something to look forward to during the day. So whether it be a bubble bath, with candles or just a chill out time with a hot cocoa. Set aside your devices, switch your phone off at a certain time. Unwind and leave it till the next day.
So lovlies, these are my tips, it helps alot with coping and I am 100% less stressed! Try it out. Oh and share with us what do you do to keep yourself sane. 😘
